I laughed when I saw the journal with the Seurat cover, because I would have bought that beautiful journal, with all the best intentions, and then left it blank on a bookshelf!
I gained some insight from the entry about journaling in your comment about seeing your "growth" as you review past entries. Two days ago in a text message thread with a good friend in Cincinnati, I was trying to encourage him to feel good about his work situation. He was bemoaning his "slowl progress" in .producing positive changes at his new workplace of five months. I encouraged him to think about looking back at his one year anniversary, and he would have a different perspective. As we look forward, and drive ourselves toward new goals, we often beat ourselves up " in the moment" that we are missing milestones. With the perspective of hindsight, we are able to see the level of growth differently, and many times I find more satisfaction than I had in the moment, whether in myself or those around me!
My realization then is the value of journaling as a measure of progress, and hopefully peace with one's self.
